It was nice this year to have the family come with me to Las Vegas for the basketball tournament. For our Thursday night steak dinner we went to Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse off the strip.

Joy and I split a bone-in ribeye, while Alice enjoyed her fancy mac-n-cheese and milk out of a glass.

Friday afternoon while Joy’s parents were walking the strip, we took Alice to Circus Circus to win some stuffed animals. We won a tiger, a fruit ninja, and some stuffed toys. The midway is a depressing place now that it doesn’t seem to be visited much anymore. All the same games are there, but some were closed, and others manned by the same person.
For the tournament it was the most heart wrenching tournament yet. Our friday night game we won handily by over 20 points which wasn’t a surprise, but for once in five years we won our Saturday morning game. It got close at the end of the game but some clutch free throw shooting by Scott kept us at front.
The Championship game moved us to center court, and the game went back and forth the whole time but towards the end we pulled ahead, but with 8 seconds left we allowed them to score a game tying 3 pointer, which forced us to overtime where we never got the lead back. Even though it was the best finish the team has had since 2004, it hurts because we were so close.
We did still celebrate our weekend by going to Lotus of Siam for dinner. This dinner was much better than our first visit to this famous Thai restaurant since now we knew to order some of their specials of fried garlic prawns, crispy duck penang, and khao soi.
